First Things First
What the Scribe didn’t realize was that the Kingdom of God is found in the person of Jesus Christ. Not in repeating His teachings. Not in agreeing with His teachings, but in the person of Jesus Christ. You may go to church, read your Bible daily, do good deeds, and if you were to come before Jesus and asked about the kingdom of God He would say that you aren’t far from it. The kingdom of God is found in the person of Jesus Christ and you enter into that Kingdom when you place your life in His hands. Continue reading

Dealing With Divorce and the Importance of Children
The County Courthouse – where wedding dreams begin, and too often die. Divorce is a touchy subject these days. What does Jesus say about marriage? About divorce? I don’t have all the answers, but I think God’s plan always includes … Continue reading

What’s God Up To Anyway? Mark 8:22-38
If you’ve ever wanted to know what God was doing, and why, don’t feel like you’re all alone. This week, I wrestled with that question a lot. I think the disciples did also. Ultimately, of course, I know that God … Continue reading

Finishing the Story, Feeding the Five Thousand, and Finding Healing – Mark 6:30-56
After you’ve read the Bible through a number of times, it’s easy to become jaded and think that you’ll never find anything new. I wonder if that happened to the disciples and that’s why they didn’t learn the lesson of … Continue reading

Who’s Your Family? – Mark 3:20-35
The picture above is from my family reunion at my mom’s 90th birthday. Family is important to me, but as important as my family is to me, following God’s will is the most important thing in my life. I’ve been … Continue reading

Healing the Afflicted and Afflicting the Powerful – Mark 3:1-19
I ripped off the title from the old joke about a preacher’s job being to comfort the afflicted and afflict the comfortable. When you read about Jesus’ Ministry, though, He did just that. The Pharisees and other religious elite always … Continue reading

When Ministry Interrupts Our Plans – Mark 2:1-13
I don’t like interruptions, do you? I make my plans and schedules. I know what work I want to do and when. I set up and live my routines. And then, something happens to interrupt my well-laid plans. Let’s not … Continue reading

Spreading Out With The Message – Mark 1:32-45
My wife overheard me as I made this video and noted that I made a BIG mistake. (Theological error) Rather than redoing the video, I decided to give you the chance to take advantage of my mistake. If you let … Continue reading

December 30 – Serving With Authority
Luke 4:31-44; Ezekiel 46-47; Isaiah 65 “And they were astonished at His teaching, for His word was with authority.” (Luke 4:32 NKJV) The Luke passage today seems to be a summary of a number of weeks. We see that Jesus … Continue reading
