Mark 1:21-45; 2 Samuel 3:2-39; Daniel 2:1-23
During World War II the Seabees, the name given to the Naval Construction Battalions, had a motto. “The difficult we do now, the impossible takes a little longer.” The motto described the Seabees well, as during that war they performed the impossible with construction under fire that helped propel the United States to victory after victory. It reflected an attitude that is important in life. They weren’t going to give up no matter how difficult the task may be. They believed that nothing was impossible. 
It’s easy to give up in the face of adversity. It’s even easier to give up if we don’t really need to accomplish that task we have in front of us. We can let someone else do it. Perhaps we even rationalize with ourselves and remind ourselves how much we’ve already done. Sometimes though, accomplishing the impossible is the only way to survive. Daniel experienced that in Babylon. “The astrologers answered the king, ‘There is no one on earth who can do what the king asks! No king, however great and mighty, has ever asked such a thing of any magician or enchanter or astrologer.’ … During the night the mystery was revealed to Daniel in a vision. Then Daniel praised the God of heaven.” (Daniel 2:10, 19)
The king had called together his wise men and asked them to interpret his dream for them. He had one pesky little condition, though. He wasn’t going to tell them what the dream was. Oh, and if they couldn’t tell him the dream, all is wise men were going to be executed. The wise guys couldn’t get the job done, so the king began rounding up the group, preparing for a mass execution. When they got to Daniel, he noted that God could reveal the mystery if he could have some time. So Daniel and his three friends prayed, and that night God revealed the dream and the interpretation to Daniel. The king not only spared the lives of Daniel and company, he also spared the lives of his wise guys. 
Many of us have seen things happen that we thought were impossible. Sometimes those impossible things were holding us down: a medical condition, or a personal condition that we had no hope of seeing positive results from were suddenly solved. (And, sometimes they’re not, but that’s a different story.) Perhaps you’ve never seen God work that way and you’re a little scared to ask Him for a miracle. Most of us have never seen God do impossible things for a very simple reason: we haven’t asked Him. We give up on God before we even seek His help and guidance. Here’s the challenge God has for you: are you willing to trust Him with the impossible situations in life? The worst that could happen is that God doesn’t answer your prayer in your way. Trust the God who does the impossible and see how He works in you.
Lord, there are situations in my life that are out of control, that are impossible in the natural world. Remind me that You are a supernatural God who controls the world and everything in it.
