Hebrews 4:14-6:12; Genesis 49:1-50:26; Psalm 39
I am weak. I so easily give into temptation and fall away from what God wants. It would be so easy to recognize my weakness and give up on my faith. I would no longer struggle with sin – I would simply follow it. “But God….” that phrase is used so often in the Bible. I am reminded that God still loves me. I am reminded that He still looks on me with favor. “Finally, let’s draw near to the throne of favor with confidence so that we can receive mercy and find grace when we need help.” (Hebrews 4:16) As I remember God and His love for me that was so great that Jesus went to the cross, how could I give up on my faith? There is a remedy for sin each time I fall to temptation: I draw near to the throne of favor; I draw near to God’s heart. God gives mercy as we seek Him. Sometimes it seems as though we sin because we think God isn’t watching. He sees, He knows, and He still loves and forgives. Even more, He gives grace that helps us overcome the temptations and the aftermath of sin. He wipes away our guilt and welcomes us back as we turn to Him. I am amazed at those who would claim to be sinless. I am a sinner, saved by grace and helped to become a new man.
Lord God, thank You that You seek me in my temptation to give me strength to overcome and forgiveness through Your grace. Mold my life so that each day I draw closer to You and am less drawn to the allure of sin.
