Luke 5:27-39; Genesis 1:1-2:25; Psalm 1
I’m one of those kinds of people who don’t like going to doctors. I think I’m going to get better on my own and don’t need the help. When I think I’m ok and will get better on my own, it doesn’t usually happen. Things don’t change until my wife convinces me to see the doctor. “Jesus answered, ‘Healthy people don’t need a doctor, but sick people do. I didn’t come to call righteous people but sinners to change their hearts and lives.’” (Luke 5:31-32) The same is true in our relationship with God. If we have this idea that we can come to Him on our own because we are good enough; we won’t. Our relationship with God only improves when we recognize our own sin, call on God for forgiveness and seek Him in His way. Each day we do that is a new day with God.
Lord, forgive me as I sin against You. I need Your love and grace every day. Change my heart and my life to restore my relationship with You.
