Jude 1; Ezra 9-10; Psalm 95
Let’s have some joy! How often do we get so caught up in the drudgery of day to day life that we forget about the joy we can have in the Lord? Sure, there are all kinds of chores to do. Yes, the boss is going to make life difficult for you today and the clients may be worse. The weather outside is bringing you down because it’s too hot – or too cold; it’s raining or it hasn’t rained enough recently. Change your focus. Join with God’s people in praise! “Oh come, let us sing to the Lord! Let us shout joyfully to the Rock of our salvation.” (Psalm 95:1) That’s right! Sing and SHOUT to God! We watch a football game and cheer wildly when our team scores. We go to church and are afraid to say “Amen,” let alone shout and cheer joyfully to the Lord. We complain about the music because we don’t know the words – learning new words is so hard – or that it’s too loud. When we think of the victories that God has given us, though, we should be shouting and cheering not just for that hour in church but throughout the week. What amazing things God has done! He has rescued us from our sin and we are no longer slaves to sin. He has restored our relationship with Him and we can fellowship with Him daily. He gives us strength for daily living. He has performed miracles for us in the past and continues to do so. Today, don’t let your hearts be hardened by the problems of life; don’t let your souls be weighed down with the troubles that lie ahead. Today, sing with joy to the Lord. Today, shout to God in praise and worship. It’s not only a great privilege to be able to do so; it will make your life a lot better.
LORD! You are an amazing God. You have rescued me from sin and brought salvation to me. You allow me to walk with You each and every day and You protect me as I do. I rejoice in Your love and forgiveness! Let the joy I experience today help others turn to You and experience the same joy.
