Hebrews 1; Genesis 45:1-46:27; Psalm 36
I continue to be amazed by the beauty of God’s creation. As followers of the Creator, how we treat His world reflects our relationship with Him. “…You, Lord, in the beginning laid the foundation of the earth, And the heavens are the work of Your hands.” (Hebrews 1:10) God did not give us a disposable world. He gave us a world to enjoy, interact with and take care of. The first job of man, going all the way back to the Garden of Eden, was to care for His world. When we have the right relationship with our world we can breathe the air, drink the water, protect ourselves from the elements, stay warm or cool as needed, eat, sleep…. In short, God has provided all we need for survival and “thrival” in this amazing world. Some go too far and treat the world as a god in itself. Others have no respect for this world treating it like a garbage dump. When we are in Christ, we recognize God’s creation as a gift that keeps on giving and allows great joy in life.
Lord, thank you for this beautiful world that You’ve given to us. Remind me that from the beginning we have been called to take good care of this world. Help me to recognize that and appreciate the beauty of creation all the more.
